Jurgen Klinsmann has revealed that he rejected the chance to become the new coach of the United States. The German was heavily linked with the job after the World Cup and there was much doubt whether current coach Bob Bradley would continue.

However, Bradley inked a new deal, although it seems Klinsmann did come close to replacing the American.

"We negotiated for three to four weeks, but could not find an agreement", Klinsmann told the German media.

The United States job has long been felt to be ideal for Klinsmann, who enjoys living in the country and is also believed to be keen to return to football management after spells with Germany and Bayern Munich.
