AC Milan stalwart Clarence Seedorf has backed new coach Massimiliano Allegri to get it right, but stressed it may take some time for the club to be ready to compete for the Serie A title.

The 34-year-old, who joined the Rossoneri in 2002, told Gazzetta dello Sport that the club’s fans need patience.

"The fans have done well to dream and we try to make them dream again, but let’s be realistic. We are building a house. It takes time to see the Milan we want. I have to ask everyone to have some patience."

The Dutchman then went on to back Allegri, saying he has been convinced of the coach’s qualities.

"Allegri is a leader. He has proven he has character and clear ideas. He came here because everyone, from executives to players believed that he is the right person."
