Serbian boss Dusan Bajevic has quit as coach of Greek side AEK Athens. The 61-year-old, who is a legendary figure in the Greek game, having enjoyed success with AEK in an earlier spell, with Olympiacos and PAOK Salonika too, felt that resigning was the only option left open to him.
AEK have had a bad start to the new season, picking up just four points from four games, and languishing near the bottom of the Super League table. Defeat away to Olympiakos Volos (3-1) on Sunday marked the point from which Bajevic felt there could be no return.
The Serb said his quitting had been "the only solution". He had come under vast pressure from unhappy AEK supporters in recent weeks.
