Lazio are keen to bring Manchester United striker Federico Macheda back to the club. The loss of Macheda to the Old Trafford side from Lazio’s youth team is still a sore point in Rome and president Claudio Lotito would be making a popular move should he manage to snap up the 19-year-old.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, while the Rome club would like to do a permanent deal for Macheda, there is a realisation that this would not be welcomed by Manchester United at this time. Thus, for the moment the emphasis is on bringing the striker to Lazio in January on loan for the rest of the season.
Macheda is under contract at Old Trafford until 2014, but has not seen enough first team football this season. Sir Alex Ferguson may, therefore, believe half a season in Serie A at Lazio would be to everyone’s benefit.
