Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson believes he will turn around the club’s current poor form and show why he was widely praised by the British press at the end of last season. Hodgson has currently guided Liverpool to just six points from seven games and suffered a humiliating home loss to Blackpool at the weekend, but said that he thinks "35 years of coaching" will help him succeed.

"I don’t think you go from being feted as I was in May, to suddenly losing any abilities I have three months later", said Hodgson to the club’s website, before explaining that he was shocked to hear some questioning whether he was good enough to manage the Anfield side. "It’s a question that’s going to be asked, but it shouldn’t really be asked by people who’ve been in football for a long time, because they know that in football you have good moments and bad moments."

The former Fulham boss also refused to rule out dipping into the transfer market in January if he felt the side needed a boost, although with two of his summer signings in Paul Konchesky and Christian Poulsen widely considered as not up to the job by a number of fans, this prospect may raise some concern amongst the Kop.
