Atletico Madrid will try to persuade Sergio Aguero to sign a new long-term contract with the club. While the Argentine’s current deal only runs out in 2013, the Madrid side want to explore the possibility of extending that.
Club president Enrique Cerezo vowed to examine "the possibilities available to us so he could sign for three, four, or five more years, or whatever we may be permitted to do by law."
Atletico, who have enjoyed a fine start to the new La Liga season, are well aware that Aguero’s situation is being monitored by a number of teams, with the most interested of these being Premier League giants Chelsea. Cerezo’s determination to hold onto the young star will surely be welcomed by Atletico fans.
