French midfielder Patrick Vieira, currently at Manchester City, could well retire from football at the end of the season. The 34-year-old, who is one of three members of France’s 1998 World Cup winning squad still to be playing professionally with a club, may decide to bow out.
"At 34 it’s complicated" Vieira told Dauphine Libere, "I have a great chance of finishing here this season or the next."
Vieira moved to Manchester City in search of first team football from Inter earlier this year, however, the big spending revolution at Eastlands has ensured that he cannot count on a regular place from game to game. The midfield enforcer seems unlikely to make another move and thus his future in the professional game appears to be at City.
