Former Barcelona B player Gai Assulin has inked a deal to join Premier League side Manchester City. The young Israeli was highly rated at the Camp Nou and even earned the nickname "the new Lionel Messi".
However, a string of injuries that restricted his development and playing time meant that coach Pep Guardiola decided his future lay elsewhere, and Assulin was released this summer.
Now the 19-year-old will try to relaunch his career at Eastlands and it is rumoured City are considering loaning out the youngster for the rest of the 2010/11 campaign. To begin with however, Assulin will adapt to English football by playing in City’s reserve team.
