Liverpool have been handed a boost with the news that Fernando Torres will be fit for the club’s Merseyside derby on Sunday against Everton. The Spaniard had torn an adductor muscle in the Reds’ home defeat to Blackpool on 3rd October, and as a result missed Spain’s Euro 2012 qualifiers against Lithuania and Scotland.
Manager Roy Hodgson said Torres was back for the derby, as well as the left back he signed from old club Fulham, Paul Konchesky.
"Konchesky has made a good recovery, as has Torres. So all being well, we can welcome these two back", said Hodgson, before adding that the Torres he is seeing in training is getting better day by day.
"We see a livelier and better Fernando every day. It was really unfortunate he got that injury against Blackpool, but luckily it came in the international break, so he won’t miss any more league games for us."
