Former Liverpool owner Tom Hicks has claimed the loss of the club has left him "devastated" and "hurt" and believes he has lost control of the Premier League side as the result of an "epic swindle".
Hicks and fellow co-owner George Gillett were ousted yesterday by the club’s board, who pushed through a sale to New England Sports Ventures, who also own the Boston Red Sox. Hicks believes strongly this was the wrong outcome.
"There are better owners out there than the owners of the Boston Red Sox", Hicks told Sky Sports. "I’m shocked, devastated and frustrated. I’m very disappointed."
The American went on to say the deal had hurt him and his family. "It has hurt my family tremendously. This is a very valuable asset that was swindled away from me in an epic swindle."
And despite having dropped his claim for $1.6 billion in damages, Hicks could take legal action in England in his bid to receive compensation. The Texan vowed: "This isn’t over."
