Ivory Coast star Gervinho is looking set to be the subject of a number of bids when the January transfer window opens. Currently at Lille, the 23-year-old, who can play up front or on the wing, attracted attention from several clubs in the summer, but nothing materialised and he remained in Ligue 1.

Expected to head the chase for Gervinho are Aston Villa, Bayern Munich and Valencia. The Ivory Coast international is believed to be open to a move away from the Stade Lille-Metropole and furthermore, Lille are expected to deal if the price is right.

During the summer it was widely reported that a move to England and the Premier League would be Gervinho’s preferred option should he leave France. If this still holds true it suggests that Aston Villa, now managed by a Frenchman in shape of Gerard Houllier, could well be in pole position for the speedy winger’s signature.
