Reports from Italy suggest that Spurs star Gareth Bale’s display against Inter in the Champions League in midweek has increased the interest of the Nerazzurri in the Welshman. The Serie A champions had already been tracking Bale, and were further convinced of his merits by the hat-trick he bagged in the San Siro against them.
Inter believe that a bid of €40M would be enough to tempt Spurs to part with Bale and that, furthermore, the Welshman would be keen to head to Italy, especially if his club fail to qualify for next season’s Champions League. Now Bale has had a taste of Europe’s top club competition, Inter believe he will not want to miss out again.
Spurs boss Harry Redknapp is desperate to keep hold of Bale, but is well aware of Inter’s interest in the player. This has led Redknapp to state twice over the past 10 days that the 21-year-old is not for sale. Inter have not been discouraged though.
