After losing 2-0 away to Villarreal yesterday, Atletico Madrid striker Sergio Aguero has blasted La Liga’s referees, claiming that his side are treated differently because they are not Barcelona or Real Madrid.

Atletico felt they should have had three penalties against the Yellow Submarine, but were awarded none, a situation which so infuriated the Madrid side’s boss Quique Sanchez Flores that he said the game had "taken away the desire to continue coaching."

Aguero backed up his coach, claiming that had his side been either Barcelona or Real Madrid, penalties would have undoubtedly been awarded, even if they were controversial.

"[Our] players are not treated as Barca or Real Madrid", said the Argentine hitman. "They fight for the league and if they steal two penalties then it is talked about all week."

The result leaves Atletico Madrid down in eighth spot, seven points behind league leaders Real Madrid.
