AC Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri has praised his side’s 2-1 win away at Napoli last night, stating that it was important to bounce back from what had been a flat and disappointing performance in the Champions League against Real Madrid.
Robinho opened the scoring for Milan in the 22nd minute, before Napoli saw Michele Pazienza sent off. From then on the Rossoneri made good use of their extra man, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic grabbed a second after 72 minutes. Ezequiel Lavezzi managed to pull one back for Napoli six minutes later, but it never looked more than a consolation.
"Compared to at Madrid we played a totally different game", said Allegri. "I liked this team. The position of Robinho? We started with him as a playmaker, but the important thing was to stretch their defensive line."
Allegri also looked forward, with Milan having moved up to second in the Serie A standings.
"We have 17 points, this is the fourth consecutive win in the league. In Madrid we played badly, but tonight we have taken the win. It was not easy to play well here, but we deserved our success."
