Liverpool stalwart Jamie Carragher believes that the club’s win away at Bolton Wanderers yesterday could be just the thing needed to push up the Premier League table. The 1-0 win at the Reebok Stadium, courtesy of a Maxi Rodriguez goal via a beautiful Fernando Torres backheel through the legs of a Bolton defender, lifted Liverpool up to 12th.
Carragher, who has been one of current manager Roy Hodgson’s fiercest defenders, thinks that the three points could be the start of a real surge.
"It’s only a couple of results [the wins against Blackburn and Bolton], but we know that winning can breed confidence. It was a tough game. It wasn’t a great performance. We played very well last week, but this week we dug in and these are the type of games we’ve been losing, so it was nice to win", Carragher told the club’s official website.
Liverpool next face Napoli on Thursday in the Europa League in a game they will be targeting three points from to try and win their group.
