Yaya Toure’s agent Dimitri Seluk has defended his client’s worries over whether Manchester City will be able to compete at the top of the Premier League and Champions League. The midfielder was rumoured to have had a bust-up with team-mate James Milner following City’s 3-0 loss to Arsenal, but Seluk believes Toure is just showing how much he wants to win.

"Yaya was very angry last week", explained Seluk. "He just gets angry when he perceives that his peers do not have the same ambition to win. He has always had that winning mentality and is willing to fight anyone, players, fans or coaches, if he does not feel they are working towards that goal."

Toure is thought to be concerned by Roberto Mancini’s side’s inconsistent form and worries that they may miss out on a Champions League spot this season. After another huge outlay on players in the summer, failure to reach Europe’s showpiece competition would be a disaster.
