Reports in Italy suggest Inter have been overtaken in the race for Udinese star Alexis Sanchez by Premier League giants Manchester United. The 22-year-old is expected to move on from the Friuli next summer for big money, and looks set to be the subject of a fierce transfer war.

The Chilean forward has been a huge hit with Udinese since he arrived in Italy in 2006 and further impressed at last summer’s World Cup in South Africa.

It was always assumed that the Nerazzurri would head the race for Sanchez and keep the player within Serie A, but United’s interest could scupper that belief. United officials are thought to have already sounded Udinese out about the Chilean.

Sanchez will not come cheap however, with Udinese understood to be seeking offers of at least €25M.
