Barcelona and Real Madrid are reportedly ready to do battle over a player dubbed "the new Maicon".
The full back in question is none other than 20-year-old Bryan Carrasco, a Chilean currently turning out in his homeland for Audax Italiano.
Carrasco has come to both Barcelona and Real Madrid’s attention according to Cadena Ser, with each having an extensive scouting network in South America. Due to his physique and style of play, Carrasco has been dubbed in some quarters "the new Maicon", after Inter’s rampaging Brazilian full back.
With eight caps already for Chile’s Under-20 side, Carrasco is beginning to carve out a name and reputation for himself. Thus the arrival of more interested parties on the scene cannot be ruled out.
But for now, it appears Barcelona will go head-to-head with Real Madrid for the youngster this summer.
