Russian giants Rubin Kazan have denied that they are planning a big-money bid for Real Madrid star Kaka.

The club had been linked with a substantial €40M offer by sections of the Russian and Spanish press, with the belief that they wanted to make a splash in the summer transfer window. This though has been denied.

"These rumours are ridiculous", said a Rubin Kazan spokesman, forced to respond given the growing chatter that a bid was due to be made.

Nevertheless, Rubin are exploring a number of options to bolster their squad before the 2011/12 Russian Premier League season, with next season’s Champions League also very much on their mind.
