Chelsea star Frank Lampard is hopeful that his side’s 2-1 win over Premier League leaders Manchester United last night has sent a message that his side still have fight. Chelsea have endured a terrible mid-season slump that realistically ended their title ambitions, but the Blues are keen to show they are still a force.

Lampard himself scored the winner from the penalty spot, a winner which cut United’s lead over Chelsea to 12 points – the Blues must also still go to Old Trafford before the season is over.

"There’s still a long way to go and Man Utd are deservedly top of the league at the moment, but we’ve still got some fight as we showed ", said Lampard.

The win puts Chelsea back into the top four, with Tottenham Hotspur having fallen to fifth.

Next up for Chelsea is a tricky trip to Blackpool on Monday night.
