Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina has challenged himself to improve after admitting that he is disappointed with his current form.

The Spanish shot-stopper is rated as one of the Premier League’s best, but believes his performances have dipped a little of late, something he is working very hard to put right. Liverpool’s weekend loss at West Ham (3-1) ended a run of six clean sheets in seven games for Reina.

"Keeping those clean sheets was about not making mistakes, first of all", Reina told Liverpool’s official site. "I did a couple of them on Sunday [against West Ham] and I felt really disappointed with my performance individually.

"I won’t hide behind any team-mates, I was poor and I have to recognise this and keep learning from the mistakes."

Reina will hope to return to top form for the weekend, when Liverpool face bitter rivals Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday. The Reds will be hoping to put a dent into United’s title challenge, desperate for them not to overtake Liverpool’s own record of 18 titles, that they share with Sir Alex Ferguson’s men.
