Zenit St. Petersburg are ready to raid fellow Russian Premier League outfit Spartak Moscow for former Celtic star Aiden McGeady according to reports from the country.

The 24-year-old moved to Russia last year, instantly impressing observers with his displays for Spartak and causing domestic rivals to sit up and take notice. And champions Zenit now believe they can tempt McGeady from Spartak with a move to increase the player’s wages from £40,000 per week to £120,000.

Zenit won the Russian Premier League title last season and are preparing to defend their crown. Coach Luciano Spalletti is keen to add to his squad for a real tilt at next season’s Champions League too, and obviously feels McGeady fits the bill in that regard.
