Real Madrid sent out a statement of their intent not to give up on La Liga by thrashing Malaga 7-0 at the Bernabeu last night.
Karim Benzema bagged the first after 26 minutes, following good work from Xabi Alonso. Angel di Maria and Marcelo then added the second and third respectively, leaving Malaga 3-0 down at half time.
Cristiano Ronaldo found the net shortly after the start of the second half, before Benzema added his second. Malaga were finding themselves overrun and it was no surprise to see Ronaldo find the net another two times to record a hat-trick and final score of 7-0.
The only negative for Los Blancos was Ronaldo picking up a knock late on, which forced him off the pitch, and given Real had used their three substitutes, meant ten men for the home side. The result leaves Real Madrid seven-points behind bitter rivals Barcelona in La Liga.
