Former Barcelona coach Frank Rijkaard is being heavily linked with a return to management at Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon.

According to Portuguese daily A Bola, the club’s president Jose Dias Ferreira is keen on taking the Dutchman to the Portuguese capital as he looks to plot Sporting’s resurgence.

Rijkaard has been out of work since leaving Turkish side Galatasaray before Christmas, having failed to make an impact in Istanbul.

The 48-year-old, an advocate of attractive attacking football, has previously been linked with the managerial job at Liverpool.
