Sergio Canales has played down talk of a move away from Real Madrid, insisting he is happy at the Bernabeu. Canales was the subject of interest from Premier League side Chelsea last year, but ended up staying put in Spain.

The Blues have been tipped to revive their interest in Canales this summer, and other clubs are expected to enter the running too for the out-of-favour attacking midfielder, but Canales is ready to remain at Real Madrid, dismissing paper talk in the Spanish capital.

"They have written many things about me in recent months. Some have said that I should have started the last winter session on the market, but I’m happy here in Madrid", said Canales.

"These teams [like Real Madrid] are very important and it’s not easy to find minutes on the pitch where I can prove my value, but they key is to work hard as I am doing."
