Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew has shot down suggestions that the Premier League side are in the running to snap up John Arne Riise from Roma.
The Norwegian has vast experience of the English top flight, having previously turned out for Liverpool before former manager Rafael Benitez sold the player to Roma.
Riise is expected to leave the Serie A side in the summer and Newcastle, as well as former side Liverpool, had been said to be interested in his services.
However, when questioned on the prospect, Pardew is reported to have said: "Not true, absolutely", seemingly ruling out any chance of Riise ending up at St. James’ Park.
