Louis van Gaal is thinking about taking a year-long break from coaching when he leaves Bayern Munich in the summer.
The Dutchman has agreed to part ways with the German giants despite still having one-year left to run on his contract. The termination was put down to differences over the strategic vision of the club, but Bayern are out of the German Cup and also well adrift in the Bundesliga.
Van Gaal’s men are still involved in the Champions League however, and the former Barcelona boss led Bayern to within a whisker of the Treble last season, only losing the Champions League final in Madrid to Inter. Such credit in the bank has not been enough to save him though.
"I’m thinking about stopping for a year from next summer", said Van Gaal when questioned about his future.
"It’s a shame to not continue my work at Bayern, but it’s better for both parties if we split."
