Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney is desperate to go on and win this season’s FA Cup, though the former Everton man is well aware of how difficult lifting the famous trophy can be after finishing as runners-up in 2005 and 2007.

Rooney’s United will face rivals Manchester City in the semi-final after seeing off Arsenal 2-0 on Saturday.

"The FA Cup is a massive tournament with a great history", said Rooney to MUTV.

"I remember watching it as a young kid and to lose in two finals was devastating. We’ve got a great chance to go on and win it this season and that’s our aim."

Manchester City are sure however to present Rooney and co. with a stern test in the semi-final at Wembley.
