Arsenal look close to bringing back former goalkeeper Jens Lehmann on a contract until the end of the season as their injury concerns in the number 1 department have deepened.
Arsene Wenger has just Manuel Almunia as his only fit goalkeeper following injuries to Wojciech Szczesny, Lukasz Fabianski and Vito Mannone.
Lehmann quit VfB Stuttgart in 2010 and announced his retirement from the game, but the 41-year-old looks poised to come to the aid of his old club.
The German could yet be included in Arsenal’s squad to play West Brom in the Premier League on Saturday if the details can be ironed out quickly.
