Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has expressed his relief at Los Blancos’ victory over Lyon in the Champions League.
The Spanish side have had trouble against Lyon in previous years and Benzema, who got on the scoresheet, was happy to be through to the quarter-finals.
Asked whether he had any regrets about sending his old club out of the Champions League, Benzema could not own up to any, expressing mere relief.
"No, we cannot say that. I was just happy to play against them", said the Real Madrid man.
"It’s been a long time since we could beat them. Today, it’s done."
And the Frenchman also admitted that he feels better every day and is sure he is improving in a white shirt.
"I feel good, it’s true. I’m improving day by day. Today I had chances and I scored. Good for me. I hope to continue like that."
