Inter defender Lucio has refused to close the door on a possible return to Bayern Munich, but insisted he will only leave the San Siro if he is unable to agree a new contract with the Nerazzurri.

The Brazilian was a popular figure at Bayern, a club he joined in 2004 from Bayer Leverkusen. The 32-year-old stayed until 2009, when he was snapped up by Inter. Assumed to be on the decline, Lucio has hit back at Inter, excelling in his time in Italy.

But a return to Bayern could well be on the cards if Inter do not renew the defender’s contract, although Lucio’s current priority is to extend his stay with the Serie A giants.

"Me at Bayern Munich?", said Lucio when questioned.

"I said that I would only go if Inter did not intend to renew my contract before it expires. But I’m very happy here and if I can I choose to stay in Milan."
