Felix Magath has not been out of work for long following his sacking as Schalke coach, with the 57-year-old returning to former club Wolfsburg.
The Bundesliga outfit, who themselves sacked former England boss Steve McClaren earlier this season, were delighted to bring back the coach who led the side to the title in 2009 before quitting for Schalke.
This season, despite a mixed Bundesliga campaign, Magath had led Schalke to the final of the German Cup and also the last eight of the Champions League, where they will meet holders Inter.
As Magath prefers, he has been appointed both head coach and manager at Wolfsburg, giving him total control over playing affairs in the same style as a traditional English manager.
"I was immediately raring to go", said Magath.
"At this point in time there is no other club that I would have taken on. I am very happy to be back here again and am looking forward to a positive partnership."
