Liverpool striker Dirk Kuyt has praised Andy Carroll and said that from what he sees every day on the training ground it’s clear that it is just a matter of time before the former Newcastle forward is regularly amongst the goals.

Carroll joined Liverpool on transfer deadline day just as Fernando Torres headed to Chelsea, but Liverpool have had to wait to see the £35M man in action due to a minor injury niggle. The striker was on the pitch against Sunderland at the weekend though, as he started in the 2-0 win.

"Andy is a very talented player and it’s just a matter of time before he knocks in the goals", explained Kuyt to Liverpool’s official site.

"Without scoring he’s very important to us. We knew what Andy could do from playing against him earlier in the season.

"He’s very strong in the air and also holds the ball up, together with Suarez he was a real threat today [against Sunderland]."

Liverpool are next in action on 2nd April, when they will travel to West Brom to face former manager Roy Hodgson’s men.
