AC Milan are already planning their next move if Gennaro Gattuso exits the San Siro in the summer and the name of Rio Mavuba has been mentioned in the corridors of power at the Rossoneri.

The 27-year-old French midfielder is currently with Ligue 1 table toppers Lille and has impressed this season, leading many clubs to run the rule over the player.

Mavuba was formerly with Bordeaux, before switching to La Liga side Villarreal. However, the midfielder found it difficult to break into the Yellow Submarines’ first team and was quickly on his way back to France with Lille.

Snapped up by Lille for €7M, the French side will want a substantial profit if they are to part with one of their key performers. Milan however, feel Mavuba could be a worthy replacement for Gattuso if the tough-tackling midfielder decides to seek one last new challenge in the summer.
