Turkish giants Galatasaray are reported to have axed coach Gheorghe Hagi following a disappointing five months in charge at the club.

Hagi, a legend as a player with the Istanbul outfit, succeeded Frank Rijkaard after the Dutchman himself endured a poor start to the Turkish Super Lig season.

The 46-year-old Romanian was unable to rouse Galatasaray and they currently sit a huge 27 points behind league leaders and bitter rivals Fenerbahce.

And Fenerbache provided the opposition for Hagi’s final match in charge, with the Yellow Canaries visiting Galatasaray and emerging with a 2-1 win.

Although Galatasaray have yet to formally confirm Hagi’s sacking, the Turkish media are reporting it as a done deal.
