Liverpool defender Glen Johnson has followed team-mate Dirk Kuyt’s lead in predicting big things from new signing Andy Carroll.
The £35M man, Liverpool’s record signing, has just begun to edge his way back into first team action, playing a big part in the club’s Europa League Round of 16 games against Braga and then helping in the Reds’ 2-0 win away to Sunderland.
And Johnson has not been surprised at the impact Carroll has already had, believing that opposition defences are worried when they face the big striker.
"He scares the life out of opposition defences", Johnson told Liverpool’s official site.
"Everyone sees Andy as a big target man who can hold the ball up, but there is far more to his game than that.
"He is always an outlet. You can stretch the play by giving it to him and he scores goals. Defenders just do not like the way he plays.
"He has caught me by surprise with his development, but in football your life can change very quickly. There’s no doubt he can make a big impact."
