Marseille defender Taye Taiwo could yet end up at a club other than AC Milan according to his agent, raising hope amongst rivals who assumed it was a done deal.

While Taiwo admitted to Canal+ that he was ready to move to the Rossoneri, his agent Michael Cocker insists no deal has yet been done and other sides are also interested in his client.

The two other frontrunners apart from Milan are thought to be English outfit Aston Villa and Portuguese giants Benfica, with Cocker openly admitting a move to the Estadio da Luz is possible.

"Maybe something will be decided in the coming days", said Cocker.

"The player will play in the [Nigerian] national team next Saturday against Ethiopia. Benfica is one of the possible destinations, we’ll see."

Reports from Portugal however, revealed that Benfica are thought to have refused to hand Taiwo a €1.5M signing-on fee, making the Portuguese giants still perhaps the most unlikely destination of the three.
