Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar has denied reports that he could take a job at former club Ajax in some capacity when he retires from the game at the end of this season.

The Dutchman began his career at Ajax, spending nine years in the first team between 1990 and 1999 before moving to Juventus. Van der Sar was also part of the legendary Ajax side which won the Champions League in 1995.

But a return to the club, like fellow old boys Dennis Bergkamp and the De Boer brothers does not look to be on the cards.

"I will not go to Ajax", said Van der Sar, while stressing, "but I am fine with Frank de Boer, Danny Blind and Dennis Bergkamp."

And the keeper, who had previously said he would return to the Amsterdam ArenA, explained his time at United has changed him.

"When I said 12 years ago that I would return I had no idea of the wonderful years that I would spend here."

Indeed, Van der Sar would rather continue to help United when he retires, with the Dutchman commenting: "I would rather take care of the business affairs of Manchester United in Asia, where the club is very popular."
