Former Liverpool forward Titi Camara has been appointed as the Guinea’s new Sports Minister.
The 38-year-old, who retired from the game in 2006, becomes the first former professional sportsman to hold the role in the African country after he was unveiled by new Guinea President Alpha Conde.
Camara enjoyed a long career in European football, beginning in France with Saint-Etienne before moves to Lens and then Marseille. In 1999, the Guinea star was taken to England by Liverpool, where he became a popular figure due to his determined and unusual style of play.
Spells with West Ham and two Middle Eastern sides followed, before Camara wound down his career with French club Amiens. He made 38 appearances for his country, scoring 23 times.
