AC Milan are stepping up their interest in Alberto Aquilani and believe the talented midfielder could be snared for a bargain price.

Aquilani is currently on loan at Juventus from Liverpool and the terms of the deal demand that the Bianconeri shell out €16.5M at the end of the current campaign to make the move permanent.

For Juventus however, this figure is far too rich and the Turin side have been investigating alternatives. This has led Milan to keep a close eye on the situation, with Aquilani considered the perfect replacement for Andrea Pirlo if the long-serving midfielder seeks pastures new.

The Rossoneri are reported to believe Aquilani does not fit into Liverpool’s plans for next season, meaning that after any loan return from Juventus, they may be able to steal in and snap up the former Roma star for a cut-price.
