Juventus are preparing an alternative target in case they are beaten to the signature of Lyon’s flying full back Michel Bastos. Reports from Italy suggest the Bianconeri could turn to Arsenal’s Gael Clichy, who has been a long standing target of the Turin side.

While Bastos remains Juventus’ preferred option to address their left back woes, they are acutely aware of the fact that the competition for the 27-year-old will be fierce, with Liverpool and Real Madrid expected to fight the Italians every step of the way.

And should Juventus fail to snap up the Brazilian, then Arsenal’s Clichy is a very real alternative.

According to Tuttosport, Juventus officials have been long time admirers of the Frenchman and have already failed to buy him from the Gunners twice before. However, if Bastos slips through their fingers then a third approach for the Arsenal man will be in the offing.
