Marseille president Jean-Claude Dassier is confident that he can retain the services of Didier Deschamps into next season and beyond.
The former Chelsea and Juventus midfielder has been a hit in the dugout, even leading unfashionable Monaco to the 2004 Champions League final where only Jose Mourinho’s FC Porto proved too strong. Deschamps also led Marseille to last season’s Ligue 1 title.
Asked about whether Deschamps will be at the Stade Velodrome next season Dassier said he had no doubt "not for a second, next year and maybe longer."
The club’s president also reaffirmed his desire to do everything possible to keep Deschamps. "I’ll do whatever it takes to keep him."
Deschamps is still set to be in demand this summer though and it would be no surprise to see Marseille field approaches for the Frenchman. Last year it was Liverpool who led interest in his services.
