Barcelona’s president Sandro Rosell has rubbished talk the club could pay €50M for Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas in the summer, but insisted that they could yet speak to the Gunners about the player.

The Spaniard was chased by his childhood side last year, yet Arsene Wenger stood firm and refused to allow his captain to move to the Camp Nou.

And Rosell has warned Arsenal that if they are looking for a higher bid than the €40M turned down last summer they will be disappointed.

Rosell did admit however, that if coach Josep Guardiola insisted on adding the midfielder then the club would at least talk to the Gunners.

"We won’t spend €50M for Fabregas in the summer, although Guardiola calls for the player", said Rosell to Catalan daily Sport.

"Prices has fallen, if Arsenal refused €40M I don’t see why we should offer them €50M.

"If Guardiola wants him, then we’ll talk with the British, but only up to certain numbers. The relationship with the Gunners unfortunately is not very good."
