Inter striker Samuel Eto’o has given his support to Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic over the Swede’s failed spell at Barcelona.

Eto’o formed part of the big-money deal which saw Barcelona pay Inter €45M plus the Cameroonian hitman to take Ibrahimovic to the Camp Nou. There though the Swede lasted just a season, clearly looking out of place in a Barcelona side reluctant to play a more direct style of football.

However, Eto’o does not believe blame can be attached to Ibrahimovic, saying the Milan man had no influence over the size of the deal.

"If tomorrow my president wants to offer one billion to Barcelona for [Lionel] Messi, he is free to do so", said Eto’o to Gazzetta dello Sport.

"It’s not Ibrahimovic’s fault that the club paid so much for him."
