Danish striker Nicklas Bendtner is thought ready to quit Arsenal this summer as he pines for regular first team football.

The 23-year-old has failed to establish himself as a first choice option for Arsene Wenger and this season looks set to clock up less than 20 league appearances for the Gunners. Often the Dane features from the bench, being handed fleeting chances to impress, and Bendtner has already given notice that such a role is not enough for him.

And while Bendtner is believed to fancy a move to Italy’s Serie A, a switch to the Bundesliga may be a more realistic option, with Hamburg keen on the Dane.

Hamburg are set to lose Ruud van Nistelrooy in the summer and have space to add another striker – and Bendtner’s name is on the club’s list.
