Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish has declared recent history between the Reds and Arsenal will count for little when the two meet at the Emirates Stadium in the Premier League this afternoon.
Dalglish will enter the contest well aware of the fact that Liverpool have not won away to Arsenal for 11 years, but does not believe that statistic will count for much over the 90 minutes that lie ahead.
"The history of results is unimportant for me. I don’t think we’d lost at West Brom in a long time, but we lost there, so if we’ve not won at Arsenal, why can’t we go to Arsenal and win?"
And the Scot is adamant that past results do not matter and it is the performance at that specific time which really counts.
"It doesn’t make any difference about past results. That doesn’t get you anywhere. It’s what happens on the day."
Both sides will be desperate to take three points from the game. With Arsenal chasing the title and Liverpool pushing to mount a bid for fifth spot and the Europa League, a draw is not enough for either club.
