Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that he felt whoever scored first in yesterday’s FA Cup semi-final clash against Manchester City would win the game. And in the 1-0 win for City, it was Yaya Toure who proved Ferguson’s thoughts right, although the Scot knows his side had chances to open the scoring.

"The first 15 minutes after half time cost us the game", Ferguson told MUTV.

"Slack moments. Edwin [van der Sar] had a bad kick out and Michael Carrick couldn’t hold it and it was a goal. From then on, they were defending apart from a couple of counter-attacks. It’s disappointing as we should have been ahead in the first half as we were the better team."

And Ferguson admitted that as the game unfolded he knew the first team to score would end up as the game’s winners.

"The chance that Dimitar [Berbatov] missed, there was a great save from the keeper, but the second chance, from under the bar, if he’d scored there, I had a feeling whoever scored first would win the match."

United must now pick themselves up for a Premier League game away to Newcastle United on Tuesday as they bid to win the title.
