Arsenal are ready to steal a march over their rivals by jumping in with a €15M bid for Paris Saint-Germain centre back Mamadou Sakho.
Arsene Wenger has long been a fan of Sakho, who has often been compared to a young Lilian Thuram, but is aware that the Frenchman is also being tracked by Bayern Munich and Barcelona.
The Gunners’ hope that a €15M bid will be quickly accepted in Paris and negotiations can then quickly begin.
Sakho’s future may well depend on whether PSG can ensure Champions League football for next season however. Sitting fourth and just a single point behind Lyon (and one ahead of Rennes), the battle for the Champions League looks set to go to the wire in Ligue 1.
