Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson was not too downbeat after watching his side draw 0-0 in the Premier League at Newcastle United last night and believes the key to the result’s importance will be what Arsenal and Chelsea do in their coming games.

United had the lion’s share of the possession at St. James’ Park, but failed to create that match winning chance against a Newcastle side that adopted a stubborn and determined approach.

"I’m confident we’ll be fine now as that was a hard one to get over", reflected Ferguson after the match.

"At this stage of the season, we’re in a better position than we were on Saturday as there’s one less game and five games left.

"I think you’ve got to look at Chelsea also and how they respond to three home games in a row. There’s two important games coming up – obviously Arsenal away and Chelsea at home, but we’ve got a better goal difference than Chelsea and I think we’re in a better position today."

Now Ferguson will watch on with interest as Tottenham Hotspur host Arsenal this evening. Should Harry Redknapp’s side win then the draw against Newcastle will have served to increase United’s lead over Arsene Wenger’s men.
