Roma look set to try and exhaust all possible avenues to persuade Andre Villas Boas to join the Giallorossi in the summer according to Corriere dello Sport.

While it has been taken for granted that Roma would pick up Carlo Ancelotti if the Italian, as expected, leaves Chelsea, it now seems that his appointment will depend on Villas Boas’ decision.

The Portuguese is in demand, with Inter also keen on his services, believing he may well follow in the footsteps of his mentor Jose Mourinho. However, Villas Boas is keen to remain at FC Porto until at least the end of 2012, determined to have a crack at the Champions League with the Portuguese giants.

Whether Roma, with new owner Thomas DiBenedetto’s millions available in transfer funds, can persuade Villas Boas to quit Porto and head for Italy a year early, remains to be seen.
